Markham homes are usually well-sized and badly organised. The square footage is there — Unionville, Cornell, Berczy and Box Grove are not short of bedrooms — but the storage was specified by a builder optimising for cost, not for the way anyone actually lives. See how our closet service works, or read on for what we run into here most.
A real ARV install — finished custom closet project
A large share of our Markham projects are for households with three generations under one roof. That changes the brief completely. The main-floor bedroom, often intended as a study, becomes a permanent bedroom and needs a proper closet where there was none. Seasonal storage matters more, because there is more of everything. And shared closets need to be genuinely divisible — two people’s clothes in one opening, with a clear line between them, not a compromise that annoys both.
We design for this directly: mirrored halves with independent hanging heights, drawer banks assigned rather than shared, and full-height sections for the luggage and seasonal bedding that otherwise migrate to the garage.
Markham’s open, sightline-heavy layouts mean bedroom doors are often open and closets are visible from the hall. If a closet is going to be seen, it should be worth seeing. Sliding doors with a fluted or slatted face turn an opening into a wall feature. Glass fronts on part of the run keep it from reading as a blank cabinet. And the same anti-fingerprint finishes we use in kitchens matter here for the same reason — a door you touch every morning under bright hallway lighting shows everything.
Yes — a floor-to-ceiling wardrobe wall. This is the most common request we get for converted main-floor bedrooms.
Yes, if it is designed that way from the start rather than divided afterwards. Mirrored halves with independent hanging heights work well.
Yes, and across Unionville, Berczy, Angus Glen, Milliken and Markham Village.
