Renovation FAQ
Getting started
What areas do you serve?
We are based in North York and work across Toronto and the GTA, including North York, Etobicoke, Scarborough, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Mississauga, Brampton and Oakville. Outside these areas? Ask us. It depends on the size of the project.
What types of renovations do you handle?
Bathroom and basement renovations, framing, drywall, flooring and interior painting. You can book one of these on its own or combine several into one renovation, managed by the same team.
Do you provide estimates?
Yes, and they are free. We start with a short call, visit to see the space, then send a written estimate that lists what is included and what is not.
Can you handle multiple parts of a renovation?
Yes. That is what full-service means for us: one team plans and sequences the work, from demolition and framing to drywall, flooring, painting and final details. Plumbing and electrical work is coordinated with licensed trades where it is required.
How do I start a project?
Send the estimate form or call 416-574-4943. Tell us your city, the type of project and what you want to change. We will contact you to arrange the next step.
Process, estimates and agreements
How does the renovation process work?
Five steps: you tell us about the project, we visit the site, we send a written scope and estimate, we carry out the work, and we finish with a walkthrough together.
Will I get a written agreement?
Yes. Before work starts you receive a written agreement with the scope, materials, price, payment schedule and timeline. Any change during the project is agreed in writing first.
How long does a renovation take?
It depends on the scope. A bathroom and a full basement are very different projects. Your written estimate includes the timeline for your project.
Permits and licensed trades
Do I need a building permit?
It depends on the work and your municipality. In Toronto, for example, structural changes, adding or removing walls, plumbing or heating changes and some basement work need a building permit. We confirm what applies after the site visit and write it into your estimate.
Who does the plumbing and electrical work?
Plumbing and electrical work is carried out by licensed trades that we coordinate as part of your project. Your estimate shows which trade work is involved.
Bathroom renovations
How long does a bathroom renovation take?
It depends on the size of the room and whether the layout changes. Your written estimate includes the timeline for your bathroom.
Can you move the shower, toilet or vanity?
Often, yes. Moving fixtures means plumbing changes, which we plan with licensed trades and, where required, a permit. We check what is possible during the site visit.
Can I choose my own tile and fixtures?
Yes. Materials, including who supplies them, are agreed in the written scope before work starts, so there are no surprises later.
Basement renovations
Do I need a permit to finish my basement?
Often, yes, especially if you add a bathroom, change plumbing or heating, add a separate entrance or create a second suite. Simple finishing work may not. We confirm what applies to your basement before starting.
Can you add a bathroom to my basement?
Yes, a basement bathroom can be part of the project. Plumbing is coordinated with licensed trades, and we check the drain location and permit needs during the site visit.
What flooring works best in a basement?
Waterproof vinyl plank (SPC) is a common choice for basements because it handles moisture well. We look at the condition of the slab before recommending anything.
